Showing and telling

I now have 2,315 words on the re-restarted Rukan and am near to finishing the last scene of chapter one. I am tentatively excited. So I’m feeling better now. Latest writer angsty freak out has passed. At least for this week.

600 words

I started again on Rukan yesterday, after my freak-out. Right from the beginning. I wrote slowly, carefully. I put down about 600 words. Not much. But they were good words, they made me happy. They sparked.

Too much sandwich, not enough demon hunting

Last week, I had this thought that I’d started Rukan in the wrong place. It wasn’t working in its current structure. In my head I sketched out a different starting place (where I’d initially reckoned on maybe book2 started at) but it all sounded like backstory. If you read it first, you’d think you were reading a sequel.

The words they keep a coming

20,000 words! CRIPES. The general approach of Slapdash New Word Generation Power Machine Activator is going pretty successfully so far.

About 40 pages of a paperback?

The dial just flicked over to 10,000 words on the New WIP. They’ve kind of crept up on me.
