2010 reading, done & dusted

I ended up reading 31 books in 2010 which is about 2 books every 3 weeks. It’s cool to look back over the months and revisit the books you’ve read, remember ones you forgot, and choose your favourites.

30th & 31st books I read in 2010

The last 2 books I read in 2010 were White Teeth by Zadie Smith, and Last Night at Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger.

29th book this year

29th book i read this year — Certain Girls This is the sequel to Good in Bed, featuring the main character Cannie thirteen years later, living with her now-hubby Dr K and dealing with her teenage daughter, Joy. The POV alternates between Cannie and Joy.

The 28th book I read this year

28th book I read this year was Exurbia by Molly McGrann. It felt disjointed, I wasn’t sure who the target audience should be, and character development felt lacking. So I won’t be keeping this one.

27th book this year

The latest book I read this year was Malcom Gladwell’s “What the Dog Saw” – a collection of his New Yorker essays. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and think he actually writes best in this short format.

26th book read this year

The 26th book I read this year was William Gibson’s “All Tomorrow’s Parties” and I thought it was a bit crap. Had no idea it was the 3rd book in a series, didn’t give enough description to anchor me, and had an unsticky plot.

24th and 25th books read this year

Latest books I have read – Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner (because she sounds like an awesome person) and Good Omens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman, which surprised me – I didn’t like it.

23rd book of 2010

My favourite book of the year so far — Mapping the Mind by Rita Carter. A fantastic journey through neuro science and neuro psychology.
